At the meeting point of Textile Design, Spatial Design and Plant Biology - Woven Soil changes the way we think about plants in our spaces. By designing for plants, not just with them in mind, the fabric is able to provide all that plants need in a form that we can easily use when designing our spaces. It's soil for any surface.

I am Liliana Cahill.
I am a creator defined by my Hope.
I am in my honours year of Integrated Design at Massey University, tasked with blurring the lines between textiles and spaces. My passion is for the ways in which art can bridge the gap between us and the world that we are a part of. As a queer creator, I want to critically examine our entrenched ways and nurture places of connection and understanding for people and nature.
I work across medias and disciplines. I find great joy in learning new methods and perspectives, and piecing together a practice centered around flexibility. At my best, I work at the crossroads of art, engineering and science - exploring and innovating at the bounds of the imagination, with my feet planted firmly in the ground.
My hope is to bring our spaces to life once more - to examine the ways in which we view buildings and streets as static and unchanging and find ways to make them living and dynamic. Through my practice, I hope to not only break down walls, but grow stronger ones in their place.
Hope is hard at times.
Hope is work.
But Hope is worth it.
